“When your furry friend is sick and you want to do everything you can to save them, you need to talk to someone with experience and compassion. Throwing money at a medical problem is not always the best way, and questions need to be asked. But what questions when you're operating on emotion? My amazing dog was not only important to my family, but also to all the people she helped in her therapy work. Despite her diagnosis of only 18 months to live, she lived 6 1/2 YEARS. Because we talked with Katie about her health challenges over the years, we found solutions that increased her years AND quality of life. Veterinarians don't have the time to explain all the whys, hows or alternatives and frankly, they don't all have the experience that an experienced rescuer has. Don't wait for an emergency. Food, medications? You can save with an experienced advocate's suggestions for preventatives and food for a healthy pet. Then when an emergency happens, Katie will be there for you.”

We just said goodbye to our smart, beautiful, faithful, spoiled, and loved by all, beautiful Riley. She was only 9 1/2 years old. A Goldadore ( half Labrador, half Golden Retriever). She was healthy with no medical problems, that we knew, of until Saturday at 5 pm when she began vomiting. Having Katie as our niece, and knowing her infinite knowledge of dogs, we started calling her. She asked many questions and began guiding us through the nightmare of the next few days. We took our girl to an emergency vet at an extension of Purdue University early on Sunday. We were in nearly constant contact with Katie with updates on what they were doing to our baby and the results of tests. I must say that Katie calmed us, explained results, and was on point with everything 2 Vets were telling us before they explained things. Because of the COVID precautions, we could not go in, or actually see the Vets speaking to us. We brought our Riley home a different dog than we had the day before! Katie continued to guide us over the next day when our regular Vet saw Riley. Monday night we finally had a definitive diagnosis of Intestinal Lymphoma. Katie then reassured us and helped us make the dreaded decision all pet lovers eventually have to make, to let our beautiful girl cross the rainbow bridge.
We will never be able to thank Katie enough for her calming presence. She was with us every step of the way. Mind you we live in Indiana far away from North Carolina, but that distance didn’t mean a thing! We are heartbroken but are so thankful that Katie was there to reassure, explain, give us options, and help us make that difficult decision to let Riley go.
We would HIGHLY recommend her services to anyone, and everyone, who needs a calm, reassuring, knowledgeable voice with any help or questions concerning your precious fur babies. We know, in our souls, that if Riley could speak, she would have thanked Katie for helping her humans through a difficult time for an entire family who loved her fiercely.
Thank you Katie, from all of us.
Karen, Robin and family
